Muay Thai Officially Included in 2025 Asian Youth Games
The Asian Youth Games in Bahrain will feature Muay Thai, marking a significant milestone for the sport.
The International Muay Thai Federation has announced that Muay Thai will be officially included in the sports program for the 2025 Asian Youth Games, set to take place in Bahrain from October 22 to October 31, 2025, under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
This inclusion is considered a historic achievement for Muay Thai, which continues to grow in popularity and relevance within international sports competitions, alongside its widespread presence in Southeast Asia and globally, managed by the International Federation of Muay Thai (IFMA), the body recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for overseeing Muay Thai worldwide.
Abdullah Saeed Al Niyadi, President of the Asian Muay Thai Federation (FAMA), expressed profound gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Presidential Court of the UAE, for his ongoing support of Muay Thai in Asia.
Al Niyadi highlighted that the sport's approval for the Asian Youth Games stems from Sheikh Mansour's guidance and significant interest in enhancing Muay Thai's profile on a global scale.
Al Niyadi also conveyed his deep appreciation to the Olympic Council of Asia and the Bahrain Olympic Committee, led by Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, for their support and trust in integrating Muay Thai into the Games.
The inclusion of Muay Thai in the Asian Youth Games is heralded as an unprecedented milestone that will contribute significantly to the sporting event and create a memorable experience for Asian youth.
