Additionally, the Ministry of Interior reported that road fatalities in the UAE rose to 384 in 2024, a 9% increase from the previous year, reflecting a concerning trend in traffic safety.
In a separate incident, thirteen students and a teacher were injured in a school bus collision on the E311 highway on June 9, coinciding with students’ return from the Eid Al Adha break.
Emergency responders attended the scene within minutes.
The injured individuals, aged between six and twelve, were treated and assessed for injuries following the incident, which attracted significant attention due to the nature and timing of the collision.
Authorities continue to reinforce road safety measures, emphasizing compliance with traffic regulations and the importance of student safety in school transport services.
In Dubai, regulations require thorough training for school bus drivers, and initiatives in Sharjah include the installation of monitoring systems in school buses to enhance safety for passengers.
