Adnoc Abu Dhabi Marathon Unites Global and Community Athletes in Record Participation

A Stellar Showcase of International Sporting Excellence in Abu Dhabi
Today marks the commencement of the distinguished Adnoc Abu Dhabi Marathon, drawing an impressive congregation of over 33,000 runners from various global and community spheres.

This sixth edition, set against the picturesque waterfront of Abu Dhabi and orchestrated by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council alongside the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), stands as the most significant community sports event in the region to date.

The marathon is emblematic of the ambitions to elevate the sporting achievements of the nation by setting new standards that enhance the UAE's esteemed standing in global sports circles.

It aligns seamlessly with strategic initiatives to promote healthful, active living as a primary lifestyle choice across all community demographics.

The event will be launched with the main marathon race covering a classic distance of 42.195 kilometers, accompanied by a relay of the same distance involving two participants, scheduled to commence precisely at 06:00 AM.

This prestigious event boasts a compelling prize purse exceeding $300,000, where the elite champions of the 42 km race, both male and female, will remarkably receive $50,000 each.

Prizes extend to the wheelchair category, with the leading participant being awarded $3,150 across both gender categories, supplemented by additional rewards for second and third places, as well as for participants in the 10 km race.

At a recent press briefing held at the marathon village, Arif Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, extolled the fruitful collaboration with Adnoc.

He emphasized how this partnership has culminated in a marathon that not only celebrates the harmonious fabric of Emirati society but also reinforces the nation’s ethos of fostering meaningful assemblies that propagate messages of joy, tolerance, and coexistence.

Reflecting the vision of the UAE to foster love, peace, and harmony among diverse cultures, the Adnoc Abu Dhabi Marathon stands as a testament to the generosity and progress characteristic of the Emirates, resonating deeply with both local and international communities alike.
