Elon Musk's Wealth Increases by $191 Million Following Apology to Trump

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX sees a notable rise in net worth amid a public reconciliation with former President Donald Trump.
Elon Musk, the American entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, experienced a significant increase in his wealth amounting to $191 million, bringing his total net worth to approximately $411.4 billion, according to real-time billionaire indices.

This surge occurred following a public apology Musk made to former President Donald Trump, addressing previous critical remarks he had made about Trump.

On the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Musk expressed regret for some of his posts regarding Trump from the prior week, stating, 'I regretted some of my posts about President Trump last week.

I went too far.' This statement followed a brief phone conversation between Musk and Trump, which has been interpreted as an effort to de-escalate rising tensions between the two.

The discord reportedly began when Musk criticized a proposed economic bill supported by Trump, referring to it as the 'big ugly bill,' in direct contrast to Trump’s characterization of the same legislation as the 'big beautiful bill.' In the midst of his critique, Musk also announced his resignation from a formal position within the government efficiency agency (DOGE), coinciding with his sharp criticisms of the proposed bill.

During the escalation, Musk had posted various tweets that included direct accusations against Trump, insinuating connections to Jeffrey Epstein's case and expressing support for the notion of Trump’s impeachment, while endorsing Senator J.D. Vance as a potential successor.

These posts were later deleted, suggesting Musk’s intent to quell the conflict ahead of issuing his formal apology.

Reports indicate that Musk's phone call to Trump occurred on Monday, just two days prior to the public apology.

Analysts interpreted this call as a precursor to a conciliatory response from Musk aimed at mitigating the dispute before making a public statement.

The White House press secretary, Caroline Levitt, confirmed that Trump had received Musk’s message and expressed appreciation for it, stating, 'The President saw the statement that Elon published this morning, and he appreciates it.

We continue to focus on serving the American people.'

Trump remarked on Musk's apology during an interview with a major publication, saying, 'I thought it was very nice of him to do that.'

In the wake of these developments, Musk’s wealth saw an immediate boost of $191 million, reflecting renewed investor confidence and an apparent stabilization of Musk’s public image after resolving the political confrontation.

This recent shift in the relationship between Musk and Trump comes after a period of escalating tension, potentially paving the way for future collaboration, especially given Musk's considerable influence across technology, politics, and economic sectors.

Musk, currently recognized as the world's wealthiest person, is often at the center of controversy due to his statements and actions on social media, highlighting the tangible impact that his words can have—both negatively and positively—on his public image and financial status.
