Emirati Warriors Mixed Martial Arts Championship Begins in Abu Dhabi
The event features two editions with a total of 50 fighters competing in 25 matches over two days.
The Emirati Warriors Mixed Martial Arts Championship is set to commence tomorrow, Thursday, at the Space 42 Arena on the Al Raha Beach in Abu Dhabi.
The event will run for two days and will feature the Arab-African edition 59 and the international edition 60, with a total of 50 fighters competing in 25 matches.
The details of the championship and the participating fighters were announced yesterday at a press conference held by the organizing committee at the International Holding Company headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
The Arab-African edition 59 will kick off with 13 matches, featuring 26 fighters from 11 countries.
Following this, on Friday, the international edition 60 will take place, comprising 12 matches with 24 fighters representing 17 countries.
Highlighting the Arab-African edition is a match between Palestinian fighter Abdoul Hussein and Algerian fighter Sami Yahya in the featherweight category.
This match will be preceded by a middleweight bout between Congolese Diego Bando and Algerian Islam Masrif.
The international edition on Friday will showcase a significant flyweight championship bout between Brazilian fighter Victor Nunez, a veteran of the championship, and Somalia's Mohiuddin Abubakar.
This match will come after the main co-event featuring Canadian Tanner Boser against Brazilian Vinicius Moreira in the heavyweight class.
Fouad Darwish, CEO of Palms Sports and head of the organizing committee, expressed during the press conference that the championship has shown remarkable progress, reaching its 60th edition in just five years, attributed to the support of the prudent leadership and the sports facilities that Abu Dhabi has provided, establishing it as a capital for mixed martial arts.
Darwish emphasized that the participation of elite fighters from around the world reflects the championship's continuous growth and its esteemed status within the global mixed martial arts arena and as one of the best in the Middle East.
He also acknowledged the support and guidance of Abdulmonem Al Hashemi, President of the UAE and Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federations, First Vice President of the International Federation, and Chairman of Palms, along with the leadership of Shoaib, CEO and Managing Director of the International Holding Company.
