Emiratis Embark on Joyful Hajj Pilgrimage as Summer Travel Season Begins
Around 3,100 Emirati citizens depart from Dubai for the annual pilgrimage to Makkah.
Emiratis setting out for the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia have expressed their excitement at embarking on this significant spiritual journey.
Approximately 3,100 Emirati citizens are expected to depart from Dubai this week, utilizing 28 dedicated flights operated by Emirates, Flydubai, Saudia, and Flynas.
On Monday, Dubai International Airport (DXB) witnessed heartfelt departures, with officials from Dubai Police, immigration, customs, health authorities, and airline staff collaborating to provide a smooth travel experience.
The timing of this pilgrimage coincides with the busy summer travel season, necessitating increased organizational efforts.
Upon arrival at the airport, departing pilgrims were greeted by volunteers offering traditional hospitality, including dates, water, juice, and sweets.
Abdullah Al Mutawa, a 45-year-old from Ras Al Khaimah, shared his emotional experience: "I’m thrilled.
I can’t describe the joy of travelling finally for Hajj.
I broke down in tears when I arrived at the airport knowing my dream has become a reality." Al Mutawa was making his first pilgrimage.
Sultan Mohammed, 29, from Abu Dhabi, also expressed his happiness: "It is a dream come true.
I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome at the airport," he said, traveling with friends for his inaugural Hajj.
To assist pilgrims, the airport has implemented several measures.
Travellers can scan a barcode to access crucial information regarding hydration, water locations, and emergency contacts.
Free medical tests for blood pressure and blood sugar levels are available before departure.
Essa Al Shamsi, senior vice president at Dubai Airports, noted the importance of these journeys, stating, "These journeys are personal, profound, and often once in a lifetime.
Through the efforts of our people and the DXB community, we want to ensure every pilgrim departs with confidence and returns with ease."
Pilgrims are advised to stay informed about travel regulations and ensure all required documentation is valid before heading to the airport.
Additionally, handling luggage at home and arriving at the airport at least four hours prior to departure can help streamline the process.
The annual Hajj pilgrimage draws millions of Muslims from around the world to Makkah, with many also visiting the city of Madinah.
