Fog and Chill Descend on UAE Ahead of Weekend Weather Changes
Dense fog and the season's coldest temperatures mark a shift in weather patterns across the United Arab Emirates.
In a dramatic shift from the usual dry and warm climate, residents of the United Arab Emirates awoke on Friday to dense fog covering parts of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Ras Al Khaimah.
This atmospheric change was captured vividly in video footage shared on social media by Storm.ae, revealing thick fog enveloping mountain regions.
Coinciding with this foggy start, temperatures plummeted to the coldest of the season, with Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah recording a chilly 5.4°C at half-past midnight.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has provided a forecast for continued cloudy conditions, predominantly affecting coastal and northern areas of the UAE, with a possibility of light rain expected by evening.
Looking ahead to the weekend, NCM's projections indicate the persistence of partly to mostly cloudy skies across islands, coastal, and some northern and eastern regions.
There's a forecasted chance of rain, bringing an unusual twist to the typically arid Arabian Peninsula weather.
Nighttime and early morning hours present an increased likelihood of mist formation, especially in inland zones, due to humidity levels rising.
Winds from the northwest will remain generally light to moderate, though occasional freshening could result in blowing dust, with wind speeds predicted to range from 10 to 30 km/h, potentially reaching up to 40 km/h. The waters of the Arabian Gulf are expected to remain rough, while the Oman Sea will experience moderate to rough conditions.
A National Center of Meteorology red and yellow alert has been issued to caution areas across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra about the fog, which could persist until 9:30 AM, leading to reduced visibility in affected zones.
Specific alerts were marked over Arjan, North of Abu Hiraybah, Al Wathba, and Al Khatim in Abu Dhabi, with additional dense fog reports in Al Ain and Al Dhafra regions.
Temperature expectations for the day range between highs of 21 to 25 degrees Celsius across coastal areas and lows from 11 to 15 degrees Celsius.
Light to moderate winds, reaching speeds of up to 35 km/hr, are anticipated.
As these weather shifts unveil over the weekend, residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepared for the dynamic conditions, while the foggy mornings transition to humid, potentially rain-laden afternoons.
