Hiking Accidents and Construction Site Fire in Dubai: A Report on Recent Emergencies
Injuries sustained by hikers in Hatta and fire at a construction site in Business Bay highlight safety concerns.
Three Asian nationals have been hospitalized following injuries sustained while hiking in the Hatta mountains.
Reports indicate that the hikers experienced exhaustion during their excursion.
The National Guard's National Search and Rescue Centre responded swiftly to the incident and coordinated a medical evacuation on Tuesday.
The Centre emphasized the importance of adhering to public safety guidelines and encouraged hikers to call the emergency line (995) in case of emergencies requiring assistance.
In a separate incident, Dubai's Civil Defence reported a fire at a construction site in Business Bay on the afternoon of May 20. The fire, which originated in a storage area for construction waste, was promptly reported at 1:47 PM. The Al Quoz firefighting station was the first to respond, arriving at the scene within six minutes.
Fire brigades responded vigorously as thick, black smoke was observed emanating from the site.
Upon their arrival at 1:53 PM, authorities assessed the fire as moderate.
By 2:46 PM, the on-site commander confirmed that the fire had been brought under control, with no reported injuries.
Cooling operations were subsequently initiated, and the site was scheduled to be handed over to the relevant authorities once these operations were completed.
This incident follows a recent major fire caused by a gas leak at a restaurant located in a residential building in Al Barsha, further underscoring ongoing safety concerns in construction and residential areas within the emirate.
