Indonesia Expands Agricultural Exports Globally via UAE Partnership
Indonesian Deputy Minister of Agriculture discusses strategic cooperation with UAE ambassador to enhance agricultural trade.
The Indonesian Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Wamnan Sudariono, met with Abdullah Salem Al-Dhaheri, the UAE ambassador to Indonesia, to explore avenues for cooperation aimed at enhancing Indonesia's agricultural exports and increasing its competitiveness in global markets.
This meeting took place at the Ministry of Agriculture in Jakarta.
The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture aims to leverage UAE's strategic logistical pathways to facilitate the expansion of its agricultural product exports.
Sudariono stated that the discussions centered on opportunities to boost the export of Indonesian agricultural commodities through UAE's established distribution networks and logistical services.
He emphasized that the UAE is a crucial economic partner for Indonesia, aided by the close collaborative relations between the leadership of both nations.
Sudariono highlighted the necessity to broaden the existing cooperation, particularly in the areas of export, manufacturing, and value addition to agricultural products.
The Deputy Minister expressed a desire to continue and expand existing investments in sectors such as meat processing and the export of agricultural goods to Middle Eastern markets, while also seeking access to African and European markets.
UAE stands out as a significant trading partner for Indonesia in the Gulf region, particularly concerning agricultural products including eggs, poultry, fruits, palm oil, and cloves.
Data from the Indonesian statistics agency revealed that the trade balance between Indonesia and the UAE in the agricultural products sector recorded a surplus of approximately $499.89 million in 2024.
