Severe Weather Alerts Issued in the UAE Amid Dust Storms and Rainfall

Dust and rain conditions are expected to affect various regions as the National Center of Meteorology issues multiple alerts.
Dubai: The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has reported significant weather disturbances affecting the UAE today, including light rain across various regions such as Adhen, Al Ghail, Ras Al Khaimah, and along Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road in Fujairah.

Light showers have also been documented in Dibba, Fujairah, with earlier reports of light to moderate rainfall impacting Al Suyoh, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain.

Additionally, light rain was recorded at Dubai International Airport and Al Minhad in Dubai, while the morning saw rain at Al Bateen in Abu Dhabi.

In response to deteriorating conditions, the NCM has issued yellow and orange dust alerts due to reduced visibility, particularly noted at Al Maktoum International Airport, where visibility dropped to under 2000 meters by 2 PM today.

The weather bureau has advised residents to exercise caution during the ongoing dust storms, recommending careful driving, keeping windows and doors closed, and avoiding direct exposure to the dust.

Official updates on weather conditions are encouraged.

Social media footage from the Storm_ae Instagram account displayed the windy, dusty conditions affecting the northwest of Dubai this afternoon.

Looking ahead, predictions for tomorrow indicate a continuation of dusty and partly cloudy skies in the northern, coastal, and eastern regions, with humidity levels expected to rise by night.

Strong northwesterly winds are forecasted to persist, reaching speeds of 20-35 km/h, with potential gusts up to 50 km/h. Sea conditions are also expected to be rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderately rough in the Oman Sea.

The Met Office has stated that the UAE can expect a chance of rainfall and a notable decrease in temperatures today.

The NCM has specifically alerted about blowing dust along Sheikh Khalifa International Road in the Al Dhafrah region, warning that horizontal visibility may fall below 2000 meters until 8 PM today, February 25.

Temperatures throughout the day are anticipated to range from a high of 16 to 21 degrees Celsius and lows between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius, particularly over coastal and island regions.

Winds are expected to be moderate to fresh, with stronger gusts anticipated over the sea, reaching up to 45 km/h.

The NCM has reported that conditions are evolving, with cloudy skies and a significant drop in temperatures observed this afternoon across northern, coastal, and eastern areas.

As night approaches, increased humidity is expected in several internal areas.

This morning, the lowest recorded temperature was 12.4°C on Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah at 8 AM.

The weather forecast also indicates persistent dusty conditions tomorrow, with opportunities for cloud cover and rain, notably in the northern, coastal, and eastern regions.

Wind patterns are projected to strengthen, with gusts reaching up to 55 km/h, contributing to blowing dust and low visibility.

The Arabian Gulf is expected to experience rough to very rough conditions, while the Oman Sea will maintain moderate to rough seas.

Residents are advised to stay updated with NCM for the latest temperature and weather conditions across the UAE.
