Sheikh Mohamed and Qatari Prime Minister Discuss Bilateral Relations in Abu Dhabi
The leaders exchanged greetings and explored avenues for enhanced cooperation during their meeting.
On Tuesday, President Sheikh Mohamed of the United Arab Emirates met with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Abu Dhabi.
Their meeting took place at Qasr Al Bahr, where both leaders exchanged greetings for Eid Al Adha.
The discussions focused on various aspects of cooperation and joint efforts between the two nations, as well as bilateral relations and issues of common interest.
This meeting follows a previous engagement between Sheikh Mohamed and Sheikh Tamim, Emir of Qatar, held last month, where they similarly addressed the enhancement of cooperation and the evolving situation in the Middle East.
The context of their ongoing dialogue is heightened by recent tensions, particularly following public criticisms involving Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Qatar has defended its mediating role in the region, responding to Netanyahu’s statements regarding Qatari mediation efforts in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Qatar's government characterized Netanyahu's remarks as employing false narratives to rationalize violence against civilians.
The meeting on Tuesday included several notable attendees: Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser; Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region; and other senior officials from the UAE government.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman arrived in Abu Dhabi earlier on Tuesday at Al Bateen Airport, where he was welcomed by Sheikh Tahnoon.
