UAE and Kazakhstan Presidents Discuss Strategic Collaborations During Abu Dhabi Meeting

High-level discussions focus on enhancing bilateral relations across multiple sectors, including sustainability and international cooperation.
On January 13, 2025, the United Arab Emirates' President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a pivotal meeting with Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as part of a working visit aimed at strengthening the burgeoning relationships between the two nations.

The meeting took place at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, where both leaders underscored the importance of bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas crucial for mutual development.

Sheikh Mohamed extended a warm welcome to President Tokayev and his accompanying delegation, expressing gratitude for their participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW)—a global platform renowned for fostering dialogue and innovation in sustainability.

This participation exemplifies the shared commitment of the UAE and Kazakhstan to sustainable development and international collaboration.

The discussions delved into the extensive cooperation potentials in sectors such as renewable energy, trade, economy, investment, agriculture, and space exploration.

Recognizing the economic relationship initiated in 1993, the UAE affirmed its dedication to not only maintain but expand and diversify these connections, tapping into new and existing opportunities for collaboration.

The meeting also tackled broader international themes, emphasizing the roles both countries play in fostering global peace and addressing cross-border challenges.

A significant focus was placed on climate change, stressing the importance of multilateral efforts to mitigate this pressing global issue.

The dialogue highlighted the engagement of both countries within international frameworks such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, to which the UAE is a Dialogue Partner.

President Tokayev lauded the hospitable reception and reiterated Kazakhstan's commitment to advancing its strategic ties with the UAE, which he characterized as vital for achieving shared developmental aspirations.

He also commended ADSW for its influential role in promoting sustainable practices worldwide, applauding its contribution to safeguarding the future for upcoming generations.

The high-level meeting witnessed the presence of key UAE officials, including Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, and several ministerial figures, underlining the importance attributed to these bilateral talks.

The Kazakhstan delegation's arrival at the UAE's Presidential Airport was met with official honors, symbolizing the deep respect and potential seen in continued collaboration between the UAE and Kazakhstan.
