Abu Dhabi: In a significant move to enhance the efficiency of border crossings and improve traveller experience, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has unveiled its new electronic application, 'UAE Fast Track.' This initiative invites travellers entering the United Arab Emirates to leverage a streamlined process that minimises wait times and simplifies arrival procedures.

The 'UAE Fast Track' app, available for download on both the App Store and Google Play, empowers users to perform pre-registration tasks, drastically reducing the time spent at traditional registration counters.

By utilising smart gates, the app facilitates almost instantaneous processing of travel formalities upon the user's arrival in the country, officials stated in an explanatory video.

This advanced application incorporates numerous innovative features designed to enhance convenience and security.

Notably, it allows individuals to capture their fingerprints using their mobile phone's camera, an upgrade that foregrounds the technology's state-of-the-art capabilities.

The app's usability begins with users selecting their intended port of entry—be it maritime, air, or land.

Subsequently, users must designate the specific port they will use, along with their anticipated arrival date.

Following these preliminary steps, the app guides users through a streamlined document scanning process, requiring them to position their identification documents correctly in front of their smartphone camera to ensure accurate data capture.

Upon successful scanning, the system prompts users to take a facial recognition image and then progress to capturing fingerprint data, first from the right hand and then from the left.

The process concludes with users entering critical personal information such as email address, mobile phone number, local address, and professional occupation within the UAE.

This comprehensive dataset ensures travelers' smooth transition through customs upon arrival.

The introduction of the 'UAE Fast Track' app is part of a broader effort by UAE authorities to integrate advanced technology into border management systems, aiming to facilitate quicker, more efficient, and contactless service at entry points.
