UAE Team Wins 'Most Inspirational' Award at NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024
UAE's 'INNOVISIONARIES' team recognized for innovative educational project among global competition.
DUBAI: The NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 has revealed its ten global winners, with the UAE team known as 'INNOVISIONARIES' achieving significant recognition by winning the 'Most Inspirational Team' award.
This year's challenge drew participation from 93,000 individuals across 15 teams, resulting in the submission of 10,000 innovative projects from 163 countries.
The UAE team emerged as the only awardee from the region following a highly competitive process.
Developed by a group from Sharjah, the project focuses on creating an educational plan aimed at high school students to enhance their understanding of sustainable development goals.
The curriculum could form part of scientific lessons covering essential topics such as weather, geology, and soil health.
The UAE teams showcasing innovation at this challenge were further supported through partnerships, with the event organized in collaboration with Dubai University and technical partner SPACE.TAYAR.
A total of 202 teams from diverse UAE regions, including Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman, participated in this year’s event.
The winners' ceremony is scheduled for June 4th, taking place at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Centre in Greenbelt, USA.
Dr. Issa Al Bastaki, President of Dubai University, underscored the significance of competitions like these in nurturing creativity and innovation.
He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to advancing innovation as a core aspect of its national strategy.
Tareq Salah Al-Din, CEO of GIE, further emphasized that the NASA challenge plays a crucial role in fostering innovation across age groups while driving advancements in space technology.
