Abu Dhabi Enforces Food Safety Regulations: Five Restaurants and One Supermarket Closed
The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority implements strict measures against establishments violating food safety laws.
In a significant enforcement action, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has closed five restaurants and one supermarket in Abu Dhabi due to violations of food safety regulations.
This decision is part of an extensive inspection campaign aimed at ensuring compliance with food safety standards and protecting consumer health.
ADAFSA announced that three restaurants were shuttered for breaching Law No. (2) of 2008 concerning food safety in the emirate, along with associated regulations that pose risks to public health.
The establishments affected include Lahore Garden Grill Restaurant and Cafeteria located in Al Khalidiya, which holds commercial License Number 4904174 CN; Kark Future Cafeteria situated on Abu Dhabi Island, with License Number 3998230; and the Maqam Corner Restaurant in Musaffah Industrial Area, identified by License Number 1066090CN.
Additionally, two more restaurants, Pak Rawalpindi – Branch 1 in Musaffah and Salty Desi Darbar in Musaffah, bear License Numbers CN-1895014-1 and CN-4978963, respectively.
The supermarket affected is Rich and Fresh LLC, located in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, East 9, which is registered under License Number CN-1750783.
Reports from ADAFSA indicated that the closures stemmed from repeated high-risk violations directly affecting food safety and consumer health, and the establishments failed to rectify these issues promptly.
ADAFSA stated that the administrative closures will remain in effect as long as the underlying issues exist.
Businesses will be allowed to resume operations only after addressing the violations and fulfilling the necessary requirements for compliance.
This initiative reflects ADAFSA's ongoing efforts to enhance the food safety system in Abu Dhabi, underscoring the essential regulatory role in ensuring that all establishments adhere to safety standards.
The authority conducts regular inspections of food establishments across all categories and products to ensure compliance with food safety requirements.
ADAFSA has urged the public to report any observed violations in food establishments or concerns regarding food products by contacting the Abu Dhabi government’s toll-free number 800555.
This initiative aims to promote safe and healthy food for all community members in the emirate.
In a separate incident, Dubai's Civil Defence successfully contained a fire at a restaurant in the Al Barsha area following a gas leak.
The fire broke out late at night, prompting a rapid response from emergency services.
The blaze reportedly impacted the facade of the Pearl View Restaurant and Cafeteria, although no injuries were reported.
The quick action by Dubai Civil Defence diffused the situation, with reports indicating that the fire caused considerable damage but was brought under control in record time.
This incident is part of an ongoing trend in Al Barsha, which has seen several fire-related incidents in recent months, prompting increased scrutiny over fire safety measures in densely populated areas.
