Ceiling Collapse at Argentine Cinema Injures Audience During Horror Film Screening

The incident occurs during a showing of 'Final Destination: Bloodlines' in La Plata, Buenos Aires, amidst reports of heavy rainfall in the area.
A ceiling collapse at a cinema in Argentina caused injuries to several audience members during a screening of the latest installment of the 'Final Destination' series.

The incident took place at 'Cine Ocho' in La Plata, Buenos Aires Province, as viewers watched 'Final Destination: Bloodlines', the sixth entry in the renowned horror franchise which features themes of survival and unexpected death.

Witnesses reported that the collapse happened towards the end of the film, with some initially believing that a loud noise was part of the action sequence.

One attendee recounted that she was attending the film spontaneously for her birthday with her daughter and a friend when the incident occurred.

Although she sustained injuries to her shoulder, back, knee, and ankle, she narrowly avoided serious harm as the position of her seat prevented debris from striking her head.

She characterized the cinema's management as 'irresponsible' and indicated her intention to file a formal complaint.

While images and videos circulated on social media illustrating the extent of the damage, internet users offered sarcastic commentary on the situation, noting its resemblance to the film's premise.

The cause of the ceiling collapse has yet to be confirmed, but reports of heavy rainfall in the region have been noted by local observers.

As of now, the cinema management has not released an official statement regarding the incident.

The new horror film 'Final Destination: Bloodlines' marks the franchise's return after a 14-year hiatus since the fifth film was released in 2011. Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, and written by Jai Brooker and Lori Evans Taylor based on an idea developed with Jon Watts, the film features a cast that includes Theo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Akana, and Bricky Paskin.

The storyline follows a college student who inherits visions of death from her terminally ill grandmother, warning that danger looms for her family.
