Dubai International Airport Continues to Lead Globally with 10.4 Million Scheduled Seats

In May 2025, Dubai International recorded 5.2 million scheduled seats for international flights, maintaining its status as the world's busiest airport.
Dubai International Airport has reported approximately 5.2 million scheduled seats for international flights in May 2025, totaling around 10.4 million in both directions.

This represents a 3% increase compared to the same month in the previous year, as indicated by a periodic report from an international aviation data provider.

This performance has solidified Dubai International's position as the largest hub for international air travel worldwide for May 2025.

In April 2025, Dubai International recorded about 5 million seats, while March saw 5.16 million, February 4.78 million, and January reached 5.3 million.

The cumulative total for the first five months of 2025 stands at 25.44 million scheduled seats, equivalent to 50.88 million in both directions.

This increase in seating capacity at Dubai International is attributed to the airport attracting new airlines, expanding its range of destinations, and operating additional flights to existing locations.

These developments come in light of strong performance in international traffic throughout 2024 and the beginning months of the current year.

On a global scale, London Heathrow Airport ranked second with approximately 4.2 million scheduled seats.

Amsterdam Airport was third with 3.6 million seats, followed closely by Singapore with 3.59 million and Seoul International at fifth place with about 3.53 million.

Additionally, Dubai International Airport ranked second worldwide in total seating capacity for both international and domestic flights combined, following Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which registered about 5.5 million seats in April 2025. Tokyo Haneda secured the third position with around 4.6 million seats, followed by London Heathrow with approximately 4.5 million and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport with 4.4 million seats.

Comparing the global rankings for May 2019, it is evident that Dubai International Airport has advanced remarkably, moving up 16 places to the second position in total seating capacity as of May 2025, a significant rise from the 18th position recorded in May 2019, where it had 3.4 million seats.

During the first quarter of 2025, Dubai International Airport welcomed 23.4 million passengers, maintaining its strong momentum and reinforcing its status as the busiest international airport in the world.

This increase reflects the growing appeal of Dubai as a global destination and highlights the pivotal role the airport plays as a preferred gateway for millions of travelers worldwide.

Notably, January 2025 recorded the highest monthly traffic in the airport's history, with 8.5 million passengers.
