Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has directed the issuance of golden visas for nursing staff employed with Dubai Health who have served for over 15 years.
This initiative aims to acknowledge their significant contributions to the community and the pivotal role they play in enhancing the quality of healthcare services in the emirate.
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the essential function of nursing professionals within the healthcare system, describing them as vital partners in the pursuit of a healthier society and improved quality of life.
He paid tribute to their daily commitment to patient care and emphasized the importance of recognizing those who serve the community with dedication and excellence.
The announcement aligns with International Nurses Day, celebrated annually on May 12, reflecting the leadership's ongoing commitment to support healthcare professionals and provide an empowering environment for their continued service to the community.
In related celebrations, Dubai Health recognized its nursing staff, numbering over 4,400, during a special event held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai.
The gathering coincided with International Nurses Day, where approximately 1,500 nursing staff were nominated for the global DAISY Award, which honors exceptional nursing care characterized by compassion and dedication.
At the event, Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, the Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, awarded 12 nursing professionals from various hospitals and health centers under Dubai Health with the DAISY Award.
The awards were celebrated for their contributions to quality healthcare and fostering trust in the healthcare system.
Dr. Amer Sharif, the Executive Director of Dubai Health, expressed pride in honoring these nursing professionals and reaffirmed the organization's commitment to empower and support them as key partners in prioritizing patient care.
He also mentioned the recent hiring of 16 new nurses, reinforcing the commitment to supporting medical staff.
Additionally, the nursing and midwifery college at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences has been named after Hind bint Maktoum bin Jumaa Al Maktoum, a decision made by Sheikh Hamdan, underlining the importance of advancing the nursing profession in the region.
Dr. Tarek Fathi, the Chief Executive Officer of Clinical Affairs at Dubai Health, noted that the nursing staff comprises 120 Emiratis, whose numbers have increased by 200% in recent years, contributing significantly to the quality of health services provided to patients.
The DAISY Award nominations highlighted the exceptional efforts of this nursing staff, further illustrating the dedication to skill enhancement and professional development within the healthcare sector.
