Dubai's Commitment to Family Stability: The Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme

A visionary initiative enhancing work-life balance for Emirati families
Dubai has taken another transformative step towards enriching the lives of its citizens with the launch of the 'Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme'.

Announced by Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, this pioneering initiative seeks to empower Emirati families, fostering their stability and growth.

Central to the programme is the introduction of a 10-day paid marriage leave, exclusive for spouses employed in Dubai's government sectors.

Additionally, new mothers will benefit from a flexible remote work option on Fridays during the first year following their maternity leave.

These measures reflect a profound commitment to promoting family stability, enhancing quality of life, and encouraging a harmonious work-life balance by integrating financial, social, and educational support.

Sheikha Hind emphasized, 'Strong families are essential to create a better future.

We are committed to fulfilling the aspirations of every Emirati family in Dubai, ensuring their lasting happiness and stability while empowering them to nurture future generations who can shape a brighter tomorrow.' Her statement, released by the Dubai Government Media Office (GMO), underscores the programme's alignment with the visionary goals of Dubai's leadership.

Beyond leave policies, the programme addresses housing affordability by reducing the monthly premium for housing loans to a minimum of Dh3,333 for the beneficiaries of the Dubai Weddings programme, conditional on a monthly income limit of Dh30,000.

Collaborating with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment, the programme prioritizes the allocation of ready-made housing for loan beneficiaries.

The Dubai Weddings programme, initiated in January 2024, strives to alleviate the financial strain associated with wedding ceremonies by covering the main costs and providing venues free of charge.

Within its inaugural year, the initiative supported 344 weddings, representing 28.3% of all Emirati weddings in Dubai for the year.

Notably, this produced a 10.1% uptick in Emirati weddings over the preceding year.

These efforts highlight Dubai's commitment to facilitating familial growth and continuity.

This progressive approach heralds a new era for Emirati families, marking Dubai as a global leader in fostering family-centric policies grounded in cultural and socio-economic empowerment.
