Saudi Exchange to close for a six-day holiday, coinciding with regional Eid Al Adha celebrations.
The Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) has officially announced its holiday schedule for Eid Al Adha, set to commence on Thursday, June 5, 2025, and continue through Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Trading will resume on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, marking the end of this holiday period.
This closure, when accounting for the weekend, results in a total of six days without trading activities.
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Eid Al Adha is projected to commence on Friday, June 6, 2025, as per astronomical calculations published by the Emirates Astronomy Society.
The holiday is anticipated to begin with Arafah Day on Thursday, June 5, followed by Eid Al Adha celebrations spanning from Friday, June 6, through Sunday, June 8, 2025.
Eid Al Adha, also referred to as the 'Festival of Sacrifice,' commemorates the Qur'anic narrative surrounding Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham's) willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
According to Islamic tradition, before the sacrifice could be fulfilled, God provided a ram, which was then sacrificed in place of Ibrahim’s son.
This pivotal moment in Islamic belief is honored by Muslims globally through various observances.
The festival coincides with the conclusion of the Hajj pilgrimage, which attracts millions to Mecca, Islam’s holiest city.
Eid Al Adha is marked by communal prayers, charitable contributions, family gatherings, and the ritual sacrifice of livestock, such as sheep or goats, the meat from which is distributed among relatives, friends, and those in need.
