The initiative aims to enhance urban mobility in Dubai through an underground transport system.
During a panel discussion at the World Government Summit, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, Omar Sultan Al Olama, announced the Dubai Loop project in collaboration with
Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX,
Tesla, and X. The initiative is set to connect key landmarks across Dubai, facilitating rapid transit within the city.
The Dubai Loop is a venture under The Boring Company, a startup founded by Musk focusing on tunnel construction.
The Boring Company aims to alleviate traffic congestion by developing networks of underground transportation.
Al Olama stated, "Today we announce the joint project of Dubai Loop, a circular initiative that will cover the most populated areas of Dubai, enabling seamless travel from one point to another."
Musk expressed enthusiasm about the project, remarking, "It will be incredible.
I think it will be very exciting; once people experience it, it will be like a 'wormhole,' where you move from one part of the city and suddenly find yourself in another."
The Boring Company has previously implemented a transportation system at the Las Vegas Convention Center and facilitated passenger transport during the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year.
The Dubai Loop is designed as an underground transport system to connect the city's most densely populated areas.
