Flydubai Plans Aircraft Order Announcement at Dubai Airshow
CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith indicates expected purchase of new Boeing planes in November.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, the Chief Executive Officer of Flydubai, has confirmed that the airline is considering a significant order for new aircraft, with an announcement anticipated during the Dubai Airshow scheduled for November.
In an interview with Emirates Today, Al Ghaith mentioned that the airline expects to receive between 10 to 12 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft from its existing orders within the current year.
Last year, Flydubai disclosed substantial impacts on its growth plans, attributed to ongoing delays from Boeing regarding its delivery schedule.
This situation has prompted the airline to re-evaluate its destination plans and potentially modify its flight schedules across its network, as the company has not received the anticipated new aircraft in the upcoming months.
Flydubai has urged Boeing to enhance its efforts to fulfill its delivery commitments.
Currently, Flydubai operates a fleet of 88 Boeing aircraft and serves a network encompassing over 126 destinations across 55 countries, including regions in Africa, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Central and Southeast Europe, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Middle East, and the Indian subcontinent.
