India Conducts Targeted Strikes in Pakistan Amid Rising Tensions
Indian military operation 'Sindoor' targets multiple locations while Pakistan vows to respond strategically.
The Indian government has announced the execution of 'Operation Sindoor', a military offensive that targeted nine locations in Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir.
In an official statement, the Indian government clarified that the assaults were not directed at any military installations in Pakistan.
The operation has been described as a precise strike, with Indian officials emphasizing a degree of restraint exercised in the selection of targets and the method of execution.
In Islamabad, the Pakistani military has pledged to retaliate for what it termed 'air strikes' conducted by India in three areas within Pakistan.
A military spokesperson disclosed on Tuesday night that the strikes affected two cities in the region of Kashmir controlled by Pakistan and a third city in the Punjab province bordering India.
Eyewitnesses in the Pakistani-administered Kashmir and Punjab reported hearing loud explosions following the strikes.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Chowdhury, the spokesperson for the Pakistan Army, stated that the military would respond 'at a time and place of our choosing'.
Moreover, state-run television in Pakistan reported that the Pakistan Air Force successfully downed two Indian aircraft in response to the incursion.
In the early hours of Wednesday, local time, Pakistani security officials indicated that India had fired rockets across the border at three sites, amid escalating tensions between the two nations following an attack by militants in the Indian-administered part of Kashmir.
According to three security officials, who requested anonymity, the missile strikes targeted areas within the Indian-controlled region of Kashmir as well as the eastern Punjab province.
