Iraqi Interior Ministry Suspends Officers for Attending Wedding in Military Uniform
Two officers and four security personnel face disciplinary action for attending a wedding while armed and in official attire.
The Iraqi Interior Ministry has announced the suspension of two police officers and four members of the security forces for attending a wedding while dressed in military uniform and carrying weapons.
The decision was initiated by Minister Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, who directed the formation of an investigative council regarding the incident, which took place in Anbar province.
According to an official statement from the ministry, the presence of the six members in military attire at a civilian event is deemed inappropriate and does not reflect the standards expected of security personnel.
Images circulating on social media and local news outlets depicted the officers alongside entertainers at the wedding, which was held outdoors.
The ministry's statement highlighted that such conduct undermines the integrity of the security institution and called for immediate action to address the situation.
Further details on the disciplinary measures and ongoing investigations have not yet been disclosed.
