Israel Confirms Likely Death of Mohammed Sinwar in Gaza Strike

Israeli Defense Minister suggests that Mohammed Sinwar, brother of the late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, has likely been killed in a recent military operation.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant indicated on Sunday that Mohammed Sinwar, the brother of the late Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, is likely dead following an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip several days ago.

During a meeting with a committee, Gallant mentioned that while there is no official confirmation, the available evidence suggests that Mohammed Sinwar has been targeted.

Mohammed Sinwar, who succeeded Mohammed Deif as the head of Hamas's military wing after Deif's reported death in July 2023, has been an active figure in the Palestinian militant group following his brother Yahya's involvement in orchestrating the attacks against Israel on October 7, 2023.

Israeli media reported that an Israeli strike on a hospital in Khan Younis last Tuesday was aimed at Sinwar, although officials did not comment on the specifics of the operation.

The strike resulted in numerous casualties, with reports from local hospitals confirming multiple fatalities.

In a later development, reports emerged indicating that Sinwar's body was found in a tunnel in Khan Younis.

However, requests for confirmation from the Israeli military regarding this finding were met with no response as of Sunday morning.
