Lothar Matthäus endorses Leroy Sané's transfer, highlighting potential World Cup 2026 participation with Germany.
Lothar Matthäus, the former captain of the German national team and Bayern Munich, has expressed his approval of Leroy Sané's recent transfer to Galatasaray, a prominent Turkish football club.
Matthäus commented that Sané, who is 29 years old, will have a significant opportunity to secure a place in the German national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, contingent on his performance with the Turkish club.
He stated, 'It is up to Sané; if he performs well with his team in the Turkish league and the UEFA Champions League, he will have a strong chance to participate in the World Cup.' Sané joined Galatasaray, the reigning champion of both the Turkish league and the domestic cup, just days ago on a three-year contract after leaving Bayern Munich, where he spent five seasons.
Matthäus highlighted the quality of the stadiums in Turkey, remarking that several exceptional coaches have restored stability to the clubs in the league.
