Pilgrims Begin Their Journey from Arafat to Muzdalifah
Over one million pilgrims transition to Muzdalifah after completing the pivotal rite of Hajj at Arafat
On the evening of Thursday, the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah, pilgrims performing Hajj commenced their journey from the plains of Arafat to Muzdalifah after successfully completing the essential rite of standing at Arafat.
According to reports, the move began shortly after sunset, accompanied by a comprehensive framework of health protocols and preventive measures designed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the pilgrims.
Upon arrival at Muzdalifah, the pilgrims are expected to perform the combined prayers of Maghrib and Isha, following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, and will spend the night there.
They will depart for Mina after the Fajr prayer the next day to carry out the ritual of throwing stones at the Jamrah and perform the animal sacrifice.
The movement from Arafat to Muzdalifah represents the third phase in the series of rituals conducted by pilgrims in the holy sites over the course of Hajj.
Saudi Health Minister Fahad Al-Jalajel stated on social media that cooperation in preventive measures was a hallmark of the pilgrims' spiritual journey this year, culminating in notably low rates of heat stress among participants.
Al-Jalajel expressed gratitude, praising the health and successful performance of the pilgrims, highlighting instances of awareness and compliance observed in all activities.
He attributed the low occurrences of heat stress to a community commitment to health protocols.
On Thursday morning, pilgrims arrived at Arafat for the central rite of Hajj, with security forces overseeing the flow of movement.
Various security sectors implemented plans to direct and guide the pilgrims, ensuring their safety along paths designated for vehicles and walking.
Saudi authorities provided extensive medical and humanitarian services across the holy sites, and traffic management was smooth during the pilgrimage.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reported that its plans to transport pilgrims to Arafat were successful, aided by artificial intelligence, in preparation for the pilgrims' departure to Muzdalifah.
This year, the total number of pilgrims reached 1,673,230, comprised of both domestic and international participants.
The Ministry confirmed the effective management of pilgrim movement through precise time schedules utilizing modern buses and the Mashair train, alongside rigorous on-the-ground monitoring and high security guarantees.
The deployment of AI technologies enabled real-time data analysis and crowd density forecasting, facilitating prompt crowd management and redirection when necessary.
The successful progression is anticipated to continue through subsequent rituals, which will extend through the days of Tashreeq, culminating in the stoning at Mina.
Additionally, the General Authority for Statistics in Saudi Arabia reported that the total number of pilgrims for the year 1446 AH was 1,673,230, including 1,506,576 who traveled from abroad via various entry points, alongside 166,654 pilgrims from within the Kingdom.
