Real Madrid Signs Young Defender Dean Hausen for $59 Million

The Spanish club secures the services of the promising 20-year-old from Bournemouth on a five-year contract.
Real Madrid has officially signed Spanish defender Dean Hausen from English club Bournemouth, reaching an agreement for a transfer fee of £50 million (approximately $59 million).

The 20-year-old has garnered attention following an impressive debut season in the Premier League, having moved to Bournemouth from Italian club Juventus in 2024 for £17 million.

In a statement, Real Madrid announced: "Real Madrid and Bournemouth have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Dean Hausen, who will join our club for the next five seasons, from June 1, 2025, until June 30, 2030." Bournemouth confirmed that the Spanish capital club activated the release clause stipulated in Hausen's contract.

Reports indicate that both of Hausen's previous clubs, Juventus and Spanish side Málaga, will also benefit from this transfer.

Following the significant interest from several English clubs, the reigning Spanish champions moved swiftly to secure Hausen’s signature.

Hausen is expected to be part of Real Madrid's squad participating in the FIFA Club World Cup, which will take place this summer in the United States, where they will kick off their campaign against Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal on June 18 in Miami.

Originally born in the Netherlands, Hausen moved to Spain at the age of five and developed through Málaga's academy.

He made his international debut for Spain against the Netherlands and contributed to Spain's victory in March, helping the national team secure a spot in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

Real Madrid has struggled defensively this season, having lost 14 matches across all competitions, and finished without any titles.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti is set to leave his position at the end of the season to take over as manager of the Brazilian national team, with former Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso expected to succeed him.

Additionally, English international Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly nearing a move to join Real Madrid by the end of the current season.
