Shabab Al Ahli Crowned ADNOC Professional League Champions
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum officially presents the trophy after the team's victory over Al Jazeera.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Shabab Al Ahli Club, officially awarded the ADNOC Professional League trophy to the team during a ceremony held at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.
This event took place following Shabab Al Ahli's 2-1 victory over Al Jazeera, with the presence of Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Abdullah Al Junaibi, First Vice President of the Football Association and President of the Professional League.
The trophy presentation came after Shabab Al Ahli overcame an early goal from Al Jazeera's Bruno de Oliveira, who found the net in the 5th minute.
Shabab Al Ahli responded with two goals in the second half: Luka Milivojevic converted a penalty in the 54th minute, and Moanes Dabbour scored in the 62nd minute, leading to a final score of 2-1. With this victory, Shabab Al Ahli concludes the 2024-2025 season at the top of the league with 63 points, while Al Jazeera remains in seventh place with 37 points.
This marks the ninth time that Shabab Al Ahli has secured the league title, with their achievements split between four titles during the amateur era and five since the professionalism was instituted in the UAE football league from the 2008-2009 season.
Meanwhile, Sharjah FC has solidified its position in second place for the ADNOC Professional League 2024-2025 season, following a decisive 4-1 victory against Al Wasl in their final match.
Sharjah's win brought their points total to 51, while Al Wasl concluded the season with 46 points.
Goals for Sharjah were scored by Kayo Lucas (47, 56 minutes), Luan Pereira (65), and Othman Kamara (83), while an own goal from Al Wasl's Shahn Abdulrahman occurred in the 67th minute.
Hamad Al Maqbali, goalkeeper for Shabab Al Ahli, described the match against Al Ain in the first round as their toughest encounter of the season, despite winning that game 1-0. He emphasized the competitive nature of the league, stating that every match required a fighting spirit and determination akin to a final, regardless of the opponent.
He expressed pride in the team's performance this season and noted their aim for further achievements in the future.
In another event, the 32nd edition of the President's Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses commenced in Rome, Italy, with the support of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
The race, hosted on the historic Capanelle racetrack, is part of the global agenda for Arabian horse racing.
This year, the race spans 2000 meters, with a prize pool of €300,000.
Sixteen elite horses from top stables in Italy and Europe participated, showcasing the racing event's prestige.
Among the competitors is the Emirati horse 'HM Al Shahin', owned by Hilal Al Ali and trained by Elizabeth Bernard Jean Francois.
This event in Rome continues the successful tradition of the cup, which has previously occurred in countries like France, the USA, Egypt, and Belgium, reflecting the UAE's commitment to promoting Arabian horse heritage internationally.
