Significant Increase in Employment Rates among Graduates of Higher Colleges of Technology
Graduation employment rates rise to 81% over the past five years as student enrollment surpasses 27,000.
Recent statistics from the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) indicate a notable increase in student enrollment, rising by 11% to over 27,000 students.
The employment rate for graduates from the 2023-2024 cohort has reached 80% across the colleges, while the overall employment rate among graduates over the last five years stands at 81%.
This progress is attributed to the introduction of a new educational model aimed at aligning academic abilities with the professional and scientific skills demanded by the labor market.
The colleges have detailed their strategic transformations in the report titled "Best Practices to Support Student Readiness for the Job Market," which highlights the newly launched educational model designed to adapt to labor market developments and enhance applied education.
The report also outlines various innovative initiatives that have supported training and employment while increasing awareness of applied education in the community.
Key initiatives include Eduverse, a platform that provides a three-dimensional learning environment, interactive content augmented with artificial intelligence, enhanced mixed-reality learning spaces, and the National Portal for Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.
Additionally, an artificial intelligence model has been implemented to identify students at risk of academic challenges.
These initiatives represent a significant shift in supporting faculty efficiency, empowering students, and enhancing the quality of academic content.
The electronic linkage between the colleges and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, as well as the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, facilitates continuous monitoring of labor market trends, employment realities, and the skills and specializations in demand, particularly in a competitive, global marketplace.
The colleges emphasize a renewed mission focused on developing students through the provision of applied education and research, rooted in institutional values and strategic objectives aimed at enhancing academic excellence.
This includes refining curricula and academic achievement, aligning competencies with global standards, augmenting employment opportunities for graduates, and fostering a vibrant, innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem.
In addition, the Colleges of Technology implement a "Professional Apprenticeship" program tailored to the nature of each academic track.
For Bachelor’s degree students, the apprenticeship spans 16 weeks, while for diploma students, the training extends over three academic semesters.
Over 6,000 diploma and bachelor’s students have benefited from the program, with about 4,000 students enrolled in the first semester and 5,000 students expected to be dispatched in the second semester.
