During the G7 summit, the U.S. President emphasizes the need for Iran to pursue negotiations to de-escalate its conflict with Israel.
U.S. President
Donald Trump participated in the opening day of the G7 summit in Canada on Monday, where escalating tensions between Israel and Iran were at the forefront of discussions among global leaders.
In remarks made on the sidelines of the summit, Trump expressed that Iran's willingness to engage in negotiations could signal a desire to de-escalate its aggressive posture towards Israel.
Trump stated to reporters, "But they should have done it earlier.
I gave them 60 days, and I had 60 days (to reach a nuclear deal), and on the 61st day I said, 'We don’t have a deal.'" He emphasized the urgency of reaching an agreement, stating, "They have to make a deal, it’s painful for both sides, but I say Iran will not win this war...
they must negotiate immediately before it’s too late."
When asked about the possibility of U.S. military intervention in the ongoing conflict between Tehran and Tel Aviv, Trump refrained from providing specifics, stating, "I don’t want to discuss that."
Additionally, Trump alluded to a forthcoming peace agreement, asserting, "There will soon be peace between Israel and Iran." He further mentioned in a post on Truth Social that, "Iran and Israel must reach an agreement, and they will, just as I facilitated a deal between India and Pakistan."
