The first day of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship concluded yesterday at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, with competitions set to continue until Sunday.
The event has welcomed over 2,500 athletes from 66 countries, showcasing prominent talent in both the amateur and master categories.
The opening day was marked by enthusiastic attendance and an electrifying atmosphere, underscoring the tournament's significant standing on the global sports stage and highlighting the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) leadership in promoting Jiu-Jitsu and expanding its international reach.
As a result of the competitions held on the first day, the UAE secured the top position in the overall ranking of the championship, followed by Russia in second place and Kazakhstan in third.
This outcome is seen as a reaffirmation of the prowess of UAE athletes and their capability to achieve international successes.
Youssef Abdullah Al-Batran, a member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, stated that the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship continues to establish its reputation as one of the leading global destinations for Jiu-Jitsu stars.
He emphasized that the UAE's ongoing efforts are crucial in enhancing the sport and nurturing talented individuals.
