The establishment of the committee reflects the critical role of data within the Emirate's vision of digitizing daily life.
With the current reliance on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and sophisticated data techniques, the committee is expected to facilitate transformative improvements within government operations.
The tasks assigned to the committee exemplify its strategic significance, aligning with the forward-looking vision toward a digitized lifestyle in Dubai, enhancing public life, and fostering a robust digital economy, thereby positioning Dubai as a leading model for future cities.
The strategic role of the committee is defined by various tasks and authorities outlined in the resolution.
These include unifying efforts related to data use, sharing, and governance, raising the level of integration and coordination among governmental entities in addressing challenges and changes in data management, and supporting strategic plans related to data exchange and statistics, alongside improving operational efficiency.
To achieve its objectives, the Data and Statistics Committee is granted a series of responsibilities, including providing recommendations on future strategic projects related to data and statistics, as well as the mechanisms for their exchange and use within Dubai.
The committee is tasked with proposing best practices and methodologies for calculating statistical values and metrics at the emirate level.
Furthermore, the committee will establish protocols for verifying compliance by government entities with data and statistics standards set by the Dubai Data and Statistics Authority.
It will also develop a mechanism to ensure government adherence to an established governmental data maturity model and create methodologies for the establishment, updating, organizing, classification, and accessibility of records, all aimed at facilitating data sharing at the emirate level.
The committee will identify primary data sets necessary for leveraging artificial intelligence for the purpose of analyzing and enhancing urban experiences, ensuring they are proactive and predictive.
The resolution mandates full cooperation from all governmental bodies with the Data and Statistics Committee and its subsidiary committees and working groups, ensuring the timely provision of data, information, statistics, documents, and studies deemed necessary for enabling the committee to execute its mandated tasks effectively.
The Dubai Data and Statistics Authority will provide administrative and technical support to the committee to facilitate the fulfillment of its responsibilities as prescribed by the resolution and applicable regulations in the emirate.
The Chair of the Data and Statistics Committee in Dubai is empowered to issue the necessary decisions for implementing the provisions of this resolution, which replaces Executive Council Resolution No. (2) of 2008 regarding the establishment of the Statistical Coordination Committee in Dubai.
Any conflicting provisions in prior decisions are nullified.
The resolution will be effective from the date of issuance and published in the official gazette.
