Dubai Police Crack Down on Illegal Massage Services
Four printing presses shut down in a crackdown on illegal massage card distribution.
Dubai Police announced on Saturday the closure of four printing presses involved in the production of illegal massage cards, which advertise predominantly unlicensed services.
The operation, executed by the General Department of Criminal Investigation, led to the arrest of several staff members from the presses.
Authorities have warned that individuals associated with these printing operations might face legal consequences.
Residents were advised to avoid contacting the numbers printed on these cards, as doing so could potentially expose them to theft or extortion associated with these unlawful activities.
The crackdown is part of an ongoing initiative to protect the community and maintain safety in the emirate.
Dubai Police emphasized their commitment to addressing negative practices related to illegal massage services, stating that a dedicated team is available around the clock to receive reports from the public.
Officials highlighted the importance of community involvement, thanking residents for reporting such incidents and thus aiding in the enforcement of local laws.
Historically, these cards have been a source of concern in Dubai, often featuring inappropriate images and contact information for unlicensed service providers.
Previous incidents have drawn attention to the prevalence of these cards in public areas, with reports indicating that even children have encountered them.
Experts have suggested that parents engage in open discussions with their children about the inappropriateness of these cards and the risks of interacting with such content.
In addition to this initiative, Dubai Police reiterated the public's ability to report negative behaviors, including the distribution or posting of illicit promotional materials, via a dedicated toll-free number or the 'Police Eye' service accessible through the Dubai Police app.
The authorities aim to curb illegal activities that threaten the safety and security of the city's inhabitants.
Simultaneously, Dubai Police highlighted a successful effort in returning lost items valued at Dh26 million to travellers through the General Department of Airport Security in 2024. This initiative reflects the effectiveness of the airport’s advanced lost-and-found system, which maintains communication with individuals who report lost belongings.
The Director of the General Department of Airport Security emphasized that Dubai International Airport, handling over 92 million travel movements in 2024, continues to uphold the values of tolerance and responsibility, striving to foster a secure environment for all passengers.
