Community-driven initiatives focus on various societal groups, highlighting a commitment to social welfare and volunteerism.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has reported the successful execution of 20 community initiatives during Ramadan in 2025, benefitting 55,000 individuals throughout the holy month.
These initiatives included a range of activities and social events that involved participation from RTA employees and volunteers at multiple locations, including the RTA headquarters, metro stations, and marine transport stations.
The initiatives aimed to reinforce a culture of giving, support sustainable social development, and position Dubai as a global model in charitable and volunteer efforts.
The initiatives targeted diverse groups, including individuals with disabilities, orphans, delivery drivers, truck drivers, public transport users, low-income families, and labor accommodations, in alignment with the values of tolerance, cooperation, and teamwork that the RTA advocates.
Collaboration for these initiatives included partnerships with the Dubai Police General Headquarters, the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities, the Dubai Charity Association, the Union Charitable Foundation, the Al Khair Society, and the Green Hands Initiative.
Abdullah Yusuf Al Ali, Executive Director of the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at the RTA, stated that the authority is committed to playing a leading role in supporting meaningful community initiatives that reflect the vision of the leadership in enhancing community cohesion and fostering values of giving and humanitarian work.
The 2025 initiatives aligned with the 'Year of Community' focus on providing tangible and widespread support to the most vulnerable groups while encouraging a culture of volunteerism and fostering corporate social responsibility.
According to statistics, the Iftar Project, organized in collaboration with the Dubai Charity Association, served over 30,000 beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, the 'Bus of Goodness' initiative, which targeted bus drivers, delivery drivers, workers, and passengers of the abras, provided support to 15,500 individuals.
Additionally, 5,000 persons benefited from activities aimed at metro station users.
The Ramadan Food Parcel initiative coinciding with 'Zayed Humanitarian Day' specifically targeted underprivileged families, distributing 1,000 Nol cards to assist during the holy month.
In terms of volunteerism, the RTA enhanced community engagement by involving over 350 volunteers from its various sectors and affiliated institutions, who contributed more than 1,500 volunteer hours during Ramadan.
This involvement underscores the authority's commitment to promoting values of generosity and reinforcing community ties.
The RTA organized its community initiatives as a celebration of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr, including cultural performances, traditional games, and artistic workshops at the Elderly Council organized by the Community Development Authority.
The 'Eid Happiness' initiative featured distributing Eid gifts at the Etisalat Metro Station, focusing on orphans, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities, coordinated with the Women's Committee and the Youth Council of the RTA.
The 'Eid Joy' activity also included gift distributions for workers in collaboration with various organizations such as the Community Development Authority, Kiolis MHI, Al Hai Tailoring for Men, Toyz R Us, among others.
Concluding the community events during the final week of Ramadan, coinciding with the month of reading, 'Emirates Reads', the RTA held interactive workshops for employees' children in collaboration with Huawei Community.
These included reading and writing sessions and the distribution of copies of 'Salama Magazine' to participating children, supporting national initiatives and encouraging reading.
