City officials clarify guest list and event details for the upcoming wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez.
The municipality of Venice has issued a statement addressing misinformation circulating regarding the upcoming wedding of American billionaire Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, journalist Lauren Sánchez.
City officials confirmed that attendance will be limited to 200 guests only.
Bezos, the founder of Amazon, and Sánchez are scheduled to marry in Venice at the end of June, marking a decade since the city hosted the celebrity wedding of actor George Clooney and human rights lawyer Amal Clooney.
Italian media reported that the wedding festivities may span three days, featuring continuous celebrations with 250 guests present each evening.
There are also rumors regarding the potential attendance of former U.S. President
Donald Trump.
Speculation included the reservation of five hotels for the event, as well as arrangements for a substantial fleet of water taxis and docking facilities for Bezos's large yacht.
In response, the Venice municipality stated that "the many speculations and false news circulating regarding Jeff Bezos's wedding have no basis in fact," emphasizing that the guest list comprises only 200 individuals.
This allows for seamless hosting of the event without disruption to the city’s residents or visitors.
The municipality reiterated that Venice regularly hosts significant international events, including political conferences and the renowned Venice Film Festival.
Mayor Luigi Brugnaro welcomed the decision of the couple to marry in Venice, noting that the economic benefits of the wedding are estimated to be in the millions of dollars.
