Dubai to Host Major Community Event for Laborers During Eid al-Adha

Over 400 prizes worth 500,000 dirhams to be awarded in a celebration of Dubai's diverse workforce.
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai is organizing a significant community event today and tomorrow to celebrate Eid al-Adha, aiming to engage hundreds of thousands of workers from various regions of Dubai.

The event, themed 'Let’s Celebrate Eid Together,' is part of the 'Community Year 2025' initiatives, reinforcing the institutional appreciation for their essential role in the development journey.

Festivities will commence with a congregational Eid prayer in collaboration with the Dubai Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, marking the beginning of a program filled with interactive and humanitarian activities that reflect Dubai's cultural and social diversity.

The event will run from 1 PM until 11 PM, featuring live broadcasts and a digital interactive experience that allows workers to participate from their locations in electronic raffles and instant prizes, following prior registration via phone.

Live field celebrations will include artistic and cultural performances from multi-national teams, expressing community diversity and encouraging active participation from the workforce in a vibrant celebratory atmosphere.

More than 400 valuable prizes will be drawn, totaling approximately 500,000 dirhams, including mobile phones, shopping vouchers, travel tickets, gold bars, and cars.

The awards will be delivered directly to the winners' residential areas across labor communities, ensuring accessibility and maximizing the positive impact of this initiative.

The event is supported by several gold sponsors, including Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du), Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Al Fattan, and flydubai.

Various government entities in Dubai, such as the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Dubai Police, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dubai Municipality, Civil Defence, and Dubai Ambulance Services, are contributing to the event's success, embodying the principle of 'One Government with a Unified Community Spirit.'

The event also reflects support from charitable organizations, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works, Dubai Charity Association, Beit Al Khair Society, My Dubai, We One, and the UAE Pulse Volunteer Team, enhancing the culture of community giving.

The venue has been prepared to provide a comfortable environment with air-conditioned tents, seating areas, and dedicated spaces for organizing and technical supervision, along with security and organizational staff throughout the day, demonstrating Dubai’s commitment to a civilized image in every community event.

Organizers anticipate that participation will exceed 25,000 this year, given the notable expansion in the scope of the event, the variety of its activities, and the thoroughness of its organizational preparedness.

Lieutenant General Obaid Muhair Bin Surour, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai and Head of the Permanent Committee for Labor Affairs in Dubai, emphasized that this event embodies the institution's commitment to its values and deep respect for all who contribute to building Dubai through their dedication and efforts.

He noted that celebrating Eid with the workforce is a true reflection of Dubai's inclusive and tolerant spirit, showcasing the essence of the 'Community Year' initiative, which places people at the heart of all community efforts.

Additionally, Colonel Omar Matar Khamees Matar Al Muhairi, Assistant Director-General for Labor Relationship Organization, commented that this initiative is a unique hybrid model in the region, providing an opportunity for all members of the workforce in labor-dense areas to participate even during afternoon hours and from their residences, contributing to their happiness and bringing joy to their hearts.

This initiative embodies the role of Dubai's Residency in reaching the widest possible segments of the labor community.

This initiative is a continuation of the Residency's journey in providing government services centered around people and enhancing its position as an organization that merges institutional efficiency with community engagement within a comprehensive vision to solidify its institutional reputation.
