Emirates Airlines and FlyDubai Schedule Over 4 Million International Seats in February

Data reveals significant capacity increases as both airlines prepare for heightened travel demand.
Data from the international air travel analytics firm indicate that Emirates Airlines and FlyDubai have scheduled over four million seats on international flights for February 2025, equating to approximately eight million seats when considering return journeys.

This marks an increase in scheduled capacity compared to previous years.

Emirates Airlines is set to operate approximately 2.95 million seats during February 2025, which reflects a rise from 2.89 million seats in the same month last year.

In contrast, FlyDubai has scheduled 1.11 million seats for February 2025, a slight decrease from 1.14 million seats in February 2024.

Both airlines collectively operate flights to 273 global destinations using a fleet of 347 aircraft.

Emirates Airlines services 148 airports across 80 countries, while FlyDubai operates flights to over 125 destinations in 55 countries, including regions such as Africa, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Central and Southeastern Europe, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

Emirates Airlines' fleet comprises 259 wide-body aircraft, including the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777.

Meanwhile, FlyDubai maintains a single-type fleet of 88 Boeing 737 aircraft, consisting of 29 Boeing 737-800 Next Generation models and 56 Boeing 737 MAX 8, in addition to three Boeing 737 MAX 9.

In a recent announcement, Emirates Airlines plans to introduce an additional flight between Colombo and Dubai starting January 2, 2025, which is expected to increase seating capacity on this route by 30%.

Additionally, the airline will initiate a fifth weekly flight to Madagascar beginning December 13 for a four-week period to accommodate growing seasonal travel demand.

Emirates Airlines continues to expand its global operations by increasing capacity and connectivity through its hub in Dubai.

During the first half of the 2024-2025 period, it ramped up its service to eight cities: Amsterdam, Cebu, Clark, Luanda, Lyon, Madrid, Manila, and Singapore.

FlyDubai, in November last year, launched daily inaugural flights to Bhairahawa in Siddharthanagar, marking its second destination in Nepal since the establishment of direct flights to Kathmandu in 2009. Since its inception, FlyDubai has introduced over 90 new destinations that previously had no direct flights from Dubai or were not served by a UAE national carrier.

Notably, Emirates Airlines and FlyDubai have been in partnership for seven years, which has allowed travelers from both airlines to access an extensive interlinked network of routes.

This collaboration has transformed the travel landscape to and from Dubai, having operated over 1.5 million flights since 2017 and transported more than 19 million passengers through their combined network, a number comparable to the total population of both Paris and New York City.

Travelers can choose from an average of 275 codeshare flights daily, providing a wide array of scheduling options and increased flexibility in departure times.

In January of the current year, Emirates Airlines and FlyDubai collectively operated 25.3 thousand flights.

Emirates Airlines accounted for approximately 14,920 flights, while FlyDubai recorded 10,381 flights.
