Iranian President Reportedly Injured During Israeli Strike on Secret Facility

Masoud Pezeshkian sustained minor injuries in June attack on underground security site, according to Iranian media
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was reportedly injured during an Israeli airstrike on a secret underground facility in Tehran last month, according to state-affiliated Iranian media.

The reported incident occurred on 16 June during a 12-day period of military conflict between Israel and Iran.

Iran's Fars news agency, which is closely aligned with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, stated that six precision-guided bombs targeted all access points and ventilation shafts of a subterranean facility in northwestern Tehran.

The site was hosting an emergency session of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council at the time of the attack.

President Pezeshkian was said to have sustained injuries to his leg while escaping through an emergency exit shaft.

The facility’s electricity supply was also reportedly disabled during the assault.

The Israeli government has not commented on the reports, and the claims have not been independently verified.

Video footage shared on social media during the conflict appeared to show explosions in mountainous areas near Tehran.

According to the Fars report, the facility targeted on the fourth day of the conflict had been a secure meeting point for Iran’s highest-ranking officials.

The Supreme National Security Council, Iran’s top decision-making body after the Supreme Leader, was in session at the facility when the attack occurred.

The airstrike reportedly led to a temporary paralysis of Iran’s national command structure.

Israeli officials later acknowledged that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had also been a target, but intelligence regarding his precise location was lost after he was relocated to a secure, undisclosed site.

Last week, President Pezeshkian publicly accused Israel of attempting to assassinate him.

In response, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz denied that regime change had been an objective of the military campaign.

The Israeli assault began on 13 June, targeting nuclear and military infrastructure across Iran.

Israeli authorities stated that the strikes were conducted to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Iran has consistently denied pursuing nuclear arms, maintaining that its uranium enrichment efforts are intended for civilian energy purposes.

On 22 June, U.S. military forces launched air and missile strikes against three Iranian nuclear sites.

The attacks involved assets from both the U.S. Air Force and Navy.

President Donald Trump later said the strikes had "obliterated" the targeted facilities, although internal U.S. intelligence assessments reportedly expressed more measured evaluations of the outcome.

Iranian officials have since reported ongoing investigations into possible infiltration by foreign agents, in light of the precision and intelligence accuracy of the Israeli strikes.
