Fire Breaks Out at Umm Al Quwain Factory; No Injuries Reported
Swift action from civil defence teams prevents the spread of a major blaze in the Umm Al Thoub Industrial Area.
A significant fire occurred at a factory in the Umm Al Thoub Industrial Area of Umm Al Quwain on Friday, causing extensive damage to the facility.
The fire was reported by the Civil Defence management centre in the emirate, which confirmed that the blaze was contained, preventing it from spreading to surrounding buildings.
No injuries or fatalities have been reported.
The firefighting operation was led by Major General Dr. Jassim Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Commander-in-Chief of Civil Defence, alongside Brigadier Dr. Salem Hamad bin Hamda, Director of the Civil Defence Department in Umm Al Quwain.
Firefighters from multiple emirates, including Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, and Sharjah, were quickly dispatched to assist in bringing the fire under control.
Additional support was provided by several organizations, including the Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Center in Umm Al Quwain, Umm Al Quwain Municipality, Union Water and Electricity Company, and National Ambulance services.
All personnel within the factory and surrounding areas were safely evacuated, and emergency responders managed to cool the site before it was handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
In a separate report from Dubai, the Dubai Public Prosecution announced the destruction of at least five tonnes of narcotics and psychotropic drugs.
These substances were seized from 287 separate criminal cases that had reached conclusive verdicts.
The destruction process was carried out with strict adherence to local and international standards for the safe disposal of hazardous materials, emphasizing the importance of public safety and environmental protection.
This operation was conducted in collaboration with key partners, including Dubai Police and Emirates Global Aluminium, underlining the collective efforts in the fight against drug trafficking in the region.
