Fire Erupts at Dubai Marina High-Rise, Over 3,800 Residents Evacuated
A fast-moving blaze at Marina Pinnacle forces mass evacuation as residents seek temporary accommodations.
A significant fire broke out on Friday night at the Marina Pinnacle, a 67-storey residential tower in the Dubai Marina area, resulting in the evacuation of 3,820 residents.
The incident began around 9:30 PM, prompting a rapid emergency response from the Dubai Civil Defence, police, and medical services.
The fire was reportedly contained six hours later, at around 2:30 AM the following morning, with no injuries reported among the evacuated residents, according to officials from the Dubai Media Office.
Witness accounts indicated that residents began to notice smoke and flames coming from the upper floors of the building.
Affected individuals described difficult conditions while evacuating, with some navigating through thick smoke.
Emergency services deployed multiple fire trucks and ambulances, ensuring a coordinated effort to manage the situation.
Residents were informed that temporary housing arrangements are being made, with officials from the Owners Association of Marina Pinnacle contacting insurance companies to facilitate the relocation process.
Those affected are being directed to nearby hotels for shelter, with specific provisions set in place for property owners and tenants to verify their eligibility for the arrangements.
The fire at the Marina Pinnacle is not an isolated incident; the building previously experienced a fire in May 2015, believed to have originated from a kitchen incident on the 47th floor.
The Marina Pinnacle is located in close proximity to The Torch Tower, which has also faced multiple fire incidents in recent years.
As of now, authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and have not provided further details on the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Emergency services continue their operations, clearing the area and providing necessary medical support to those evacuated.
Residents are awaiting further updates from building management regarding when they may safely return to their homes.
