Google Enhances Gemini with New Image Merging Feature
The updated AI assistant now offers image integration across various Google applications.
Google has announced the integration of a new feature, "Image Merging," into its generative AI assistant, Gemini.
This update is designed to enhance user experience by allowing seamless inclusion of images across several popular Google applications, including Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Maps, and YouTube.
Additionally, Gemini's image merging capabilities will extend to devices running the Android operating system, facilitating the integration with other applications such as Spotify, OpenStax, WhatsApp, and Google Photos.
The latest version of Gemini is now available on devices and introduces two primary functionalities.
The first feature enables users to browse images and backup files to search for faces, locations, and dates.
This functionality provides specific responses, allowing users to request tasks such as displaying recent selfies or searching for landscape photographs.
The second feature, which is noted for its higher data consumption, allows for more interactive inquiries.
Users can ask questions like, "Where did I eat vegetarian food in Lisbon?" or "What Ferrari driver's license did I see in Bergamo?" Tapping on any resulting answer directs users to the Photos app, where a new "Show More" button reveals additional details.
Users can activate Google Photos through the Gemini application on Android devices, accessible in the upper right corner under the profile menu.
From there, users can navigate to media settings to enable Google Photos for further integration.
