Heavy Rainfall in Sharjah and Northern Emirates Causes Disruptions
Roads inundated and safety warnings issued as forecasts predict continued precipitation.
Heavy rainfall impacted Sharjah and several other regions in the Northern Emirates on Sunday, leading to significant water accumulation on roads and prompting safety warnings from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
Reports confirmed that areas including Sharjah, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah experienced severe weather conditions.
In response to the hazardous conditions, the NCM advised motorists to minimize travel unless absolutely necessary.
Recommendations included maintaining heightened vigilance and driving with caution to ensure the safety of all road users.
The NCM urged drivers to use low-beam headlights during reduced visibility and to stay updated with weather forecasts through official channels.
Additionally, they stressed the importance of adhering to instructions issued by relevant authorities.
A yellow alert was activated for the northeast regions of the UAE, extending until 8 PM, due to the development of convective clouds.
This alert signifies the potential for adverse weather conditions that could further affect visibility and road safety.
Residents were also cautioned to avoid areas prone to flash flooding and the accumulation of standing water.
Forecasts from the NCM indicated the likelihood of continued rain on Monday, suggesting further disruptions may occur.
The agency emphasized that residents should remain informed about the evolving weather situation and take appropriate precautions.
