Indian Businessman Sunny Varkey Donates AED 100 Million to 'Father's Endowment' Campaign

Contribution aims to support healthcare initiatives for the needy in the UAE.
Indian businessman and educational philanthropist Sunny Varkey and his family have pledged AED 100 million in support of the 'Father's Endowment' campaign, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

This initiative is designed to honor fathers in the UAE by establishing a sustainable endowment fund aimed at providing healthcare and treatment to the poor, needy, and those unable to afford medical expenses.

The 'Father's Endowment' campaign operates under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, embodying Sheikh Mohammed's vision for sustainable charitable and humanitarian work.

The campaign emphasizes comprehensive community engagement, innovative programming, and effective strategies to mobilize efforts to assist underprivileged communities, enabling them to live with dignity and access basic needs, particularly sustainable healthcare.

Varkey's contribution is part of a broader communal response to the 'Father's Endowment' initiative, which has seen involvement from government entities, private sector companies, business leaders, and individuals.

This engagement underscores the position of Ramadan campaigns as one of the largest national humanitarian movements globally, reinforcing the UAE's leadership in philanthropy and humanitarian efforts.

The campaign aims to honor fathers by allowing individuals to donate in their fathers' names, thereby promoting the values of filial piety, compassion, and community solidarity, while also evolving the concept of charitable endowments to establish a sustainable fund for the healthcare of the less fortunate.

Sunny Varkey, founder and CEO of GEMS Education, emphasized that the 'Father's Endowment' campaign reflects the ongoing tradition of charitable giving in the UAE since the foundation of the Federation, with positive impacts reaching various parts of the globe and providing hope to underprivileged communities.

He stated, "I was fortunate to be born into a family that instilled values of charity from a young age.

My father was actively engaging with the local community in the UAE, supporting humanitarian initiatives and helping others.

To this day, our guiding philosophy is prioritizing giving."

Varkey expressed pride in participating in this noble campaign and in belonging to a community in the UAE that continuously shares inspiring stories of generosity and support for the needy.

He noted the significant public response to the 'Father's Endowment' campaign, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, highlighting the community's swift action to achieve its goals of providing sustainable healthcare for those unable to afford it.

Sunny Varkey has a longstanding history of philanthropy and is a prominent supporter of humanitarian and charitable initiatives.

He has advocated for generous contributions to improve the lives of underprivileged individuals worldwide.

His efforts in education and humanitarian work have been recognized with awards from the Indian government, international organizations, and prestigious global universities.
