Inflation Rate in Mexico Reaches Highest Level in Six Months
Consumer price index reflects a significant annual increase as core inflation rises.
In May 2023, Mexico's inflation rate experienced a notable increase, marking the highest level observed in six months.
The National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico reported that the consumer price index rose by 4.42% year-on-year, an uptick from 3.93% in April.
Additionally, the core inflation rate, which excludes the most volatile items such as food and energy, increased to 4.06% last month, up from 3.93% the previous month.
These figures indicate an emerging trend in monetary pressures within the Mexican economy.
