King Charles III and Queen Camilla Meet Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Official Visit
The royal couple's trip marks their first state visit following health concerns for the monarch.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella on Tuesday during their official visit to Italy, which represents the monarch's first foreign trip since a brief hospitalization related to side effects from ongoing cancer treatment.
The couple was escorted to the Quirinal Palace by a contingent of the Italian presidential guard, where they were welcomed by President Mattarella in the palace courtyard.
The royal visit was celebrated with a joint flypast from the Italian Air Force's aerobatic team, known as the 'Frecce Tricolori,' and the British Royal Air Force's Red Arrows over the presidential palace.
President Mattarella is scheduled to host a formal banquet for King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Quirinal Palace on Wednesday evening, coinciding with the couple's twentieth wedding anniversary.
