Major Upgrade to Emergency Department of St. George's University Hospital in Beirut
Global humanitarian organization 'The Big Heart' completes renovation of vital emergency unit funded by 'Peace for Beirut' campaign.
The Big Heart Foundation, an international humanitarian organization focused on assisting refugees and those in need worldwide, has announced the completion of renovations and expansion of the emergency and trauma unit at St. George's University Hospital in Beirut.
This project, fully funded by the 'Peace for Beirut' campaign of the foundation, amounted to $2.36 million.
A formal inauguration of the refurbished wing took place recently in the Lebanese capital.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to restore and modernize one of Lebanon's oldest and most prestigious medical institutions, which was established 147 years ago.
The hospital was severely affected by the Beirut port explosion in August 2020. The rehabilitation of the emergency and trauma unit is considered a pivotal development in the recovery of Lebanon's essential healthcare sector, enabling it to return to providing critical services to approximately 40,000 patients annually.
This effort highlights the strong global humanitarian solidarity in addressing crises and supporting communities impacted by disasters.
