Mark Zuckerberg announces significant milestone for Meta AI, highlighting competitive landscape in AI tools.
Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO and founder of Meta, announced on Wednesday that the company’s AI assistant, Meta AI, has reached one billion users who utilize the tool at least once a month.
This announcement underscores the growing integration of artificial intelligence across communication platforms globally.
In a parallel development, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, reported last week that Google's AI tool, AI Overviews, has seen over 1.5 billion monthly users, revealing the escalating competition in the AI space.
Meta has effectively embedded AI functionalities into various services as part of its strategy to attract users, with the AI assistant being accessible on popular platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram.
Users can readily interact with the assistant upon conducting a search, eliminating the need for explicit searches for the tool itself.
The company's user base continues to grow; by December 2024, 3.5 billion users were reported to engage with one or more of Meta’s platforms daily worldwide.
Additionally, Meta launched the Meta AI as a standalone application last month, further enhancing its AI offerings.
Conversely, Sundar Pichai also mentioned that Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, has reached 400 million monthly active users.
Meanwhile, as of February, OpenAI reported 400 million weekly active users for its own AI tools.
This rapid development in AI usage indicates a significant shift in how users interact with technology across major platforms, reflecting broader trends in the adoption of artificial intelligence in everyday digital experiences.
