The new feature enables users to categorize chats for easier navigation.
Dubai: Meta's messaging platform WhatsApp has launched a new feature called 'List' aimed at enhancing user experience for its UAE audience.
Users across the country received notifications regarding this addition early on Friday morning, which allows for the organization of conversations into custom categories referred to as Lists.
The 'List' feature is designed to assist users in locating important chats without the challenge of sifting through numerous conversations.
By tapping the '+' button located in the filter bar at the top of the chats, users can begin creating these lists.
The notification emphasized that users can filter their chats based on personal preferences, including categorizing them into groups such as family, friends, work, and neighbors.
Users can assign names to the lists and select conversations to be included, accommodating both group chats and individual messages.
Those with multiple lists have the capability to scroll horizontally in the filter bar to view all options.
Notably, these organized lists will be displayed prominently at the top of the inbox, alongside options such as 'All,' 'Unread,' and 'Groups.' The launch of these features occurred in early 2024.
Prior to this launch in the UAE, WhatsApp rolled out the List service to users in the United States in November of the previous year.
Additionally, the messaging application introduced a more efficient event planning feature last year, which has not yet appeared in the US.
In another recent advancement, Meta introduced the 'Meta AI' feature for WhatsApp users in the UAE last month.
Reports have surfaced that the company plans to unveil a standalone Meta AI application in the second quarter of the year, signaling a significant move as Meta CEO
Mark Zuckerberg aims to position his company as a leader in artificial intelligence, particularly in competition with firms such as OpenAI and Alphabet.
The Meta AI chatbot, which debuted in September 2023, is pitched as a generative AI-powered assistant capable of generating responses and images based on user prompts across Meta's applications.
This development follows the previous initiative where Meta AI was integrated into
Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger by replacing the traditional search functionality.
