Public and private sectors set to observe holidays beginning March 29, contingent on lunar sightings.
Oman's public and private sectors will commemorate the Eid Al-Fitr holidays commencing on Saturday, March 29, 2025, as declared by Royal Orders.
The specific conclusion of the holiday will be contingent upon the sighting of the Shawwal moon, which marks the beginning of Eid Al-Fitr.
If the Eid celebration is confirmed to fall on Sunday, March 30, 2025, the holiday will conclude on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, with employees expected to return to work on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Conversely, should Eid be recognized on Monday, March 31, 2025, the holidays will end on Thursday, April 3, 2025, and work will resume on Sunday, April 6, 2025.
The Ministry of Labour has indicated that, if required, work may proceed during the holiday period, with employees receiving compensation in accordance with established regulations.
This announcement provides clarity for businesses and individuals in their preparations for Eid celebrations.
Authorities have underscored the necessity for the public to await official updates regarding the moon sighting to confirm the start date of Eid.
